Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Interesting to learn Gyllenhaal's a method actor who gets lost in the part

That drives me nuts. He punched another actor. That's not "art" that's "psychosis".

Seriously, try PRETENDING.

I know people who've been working actors for forty years and have managed to never assault anybody because they were so "into" it.

The easiest way for this to change would be for someone infected with a human-adapted strain to catch H5N1, giving the two viruses a chance to exchange genetic information

Right, but I'm pretty unlikely to be that mixing bowl. I didn't mean nobody in the world should get vaccinated. Just that being concerned about it does not mean that I'm getting a shot, or that I think everyone I know needs one. If there was an infinite amount of vaccine, sure, but as it is I'd rather leave them for people who are in high-risk groups, and people who might actually be exposed to the virus.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Betsy, I hope your eye issues get resoloved quickly and well. Sorry I didn't say so earlier.

Amazing pictures, Laura.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Shrift, in a minor bit of better news, I have mailed your glam music to you. Should be there in a couple days.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

After a wild-eyed appeal to my boss, he went off to tell Big Boss that our department will NOT be attending the retreat tomorrow, at least in the morning, in order to deal with the network issues.

I am happy to trade four hours of sitting at my desk visibly working like a demon for four less hours of PowerPoint and Skits with Props.

"My drink preference does not indicate my sexual preference. "

Skits with Props.

Despite knowing better, I find myself having to ask what kind of props?
