I am going to beat my head against the wall. I am tutoring two students this semester for Intro to Behavioral Research. Since I've been sick the last month or so, I haven't really been able to help them with their papers. So, I went OUT OF MY WAY to ask their professor to give them an extension so I can see them two more times before their papers are due.

One of them just. doesn't. get. it. First, he thought I got an extension for the whole class. Then he didn't understand that he had to meet with me in order to get the extension. I have made it VERY clear that he has to meet with me TWICE in order to get the extension. It's the only way I could convince the prof to do it. So, I e-mailed him early this morning and said, "Ok. I canl see you Tuesday at 1 and Wednesday at 1:30." He just responded and said, "I'll see you Wednesday."

NO, kid. You'll see me BOTH Tuesday and Wednesday, or your paper is due tomorrow. How difficult is this?????

You have my deep sympathy, vw. My response to this joker would be, if you can't make it Tuesday, then Wednesday is going to be a waste of your time, and the deal I worked for you is off. Have a lovely evening throwing this paper together for Monday. This is possibly not academically polite enough, however.

Alas, not getting called in this morning isn't so much prelude to a day off, as it is a brief reprieve until my own shift starts at 3pm. But I can nap, have lunch with Daniel, and watch Sports Night, too. So I'm almost as happy as if I got the whole day.
