In my case, it seems like the extra hair keeps the style kind of flat, so my hair doesn't do a good job of distracting people from my chins.

Hi Ginger! I grew my bangs out once. After all of the exasperating effort that went into it, I realized I really hated looking at my forehead.
This is me. I have had bangs 50 of 51 years for this reason and it saves me the bother of considering what my eyebrows look like.
