'The Message'

Spike's Bitches 27: I'm Embarrassed for Our Kind.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

And they're all adorable!

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

And they're all adorable!
And soft and fluffy. Don't forget the soft and fluffy...

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I, too, am adorable and soft... and arguably fluffy.

BOOM! Shake, shake, shake the room?

I have to pack. I leave for Chicago tomorrow. And I have to be at work an hour earlier than usual. Which I think means I really need to leave even earlier so I can stop at Starbucks...

Tomorrow, I get trained in ETHICS! Apparently it's actually vaguely interesting, if a little bizarre in spots. Or so my coworkers told me ("what if you took ten pencils from the company to give to children who had none for school?" WTF?)

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Is there something in the water? I just got the "they're conspiring against Christmas rant" from my mother, who neither listens to talk radio nor goes on the internet.

It is a well organized thing. And while I agree that the right in America is more anti-woman, anti-gay, and anti-muslim, etc. than anti-semitic - this particular attempt to stir up a new culture war IS primarily anti-semitic. The "War on Christmas" is not a new trope, going as I said back at least to Nazi supporter Henry Ford back in the 20's. And while it is no news that a number of right wingers are anti-semites, that is not usually their primary concern. This particular stirring of the pot is aimed specifically at Jews - with liberals, secularists, Muslims etc. being the secondary target. Because of support for Israel, the extreme right in this country has kept its anti-semitism under control for quite some time. Don't know why they decided to foreground that particular hatred of theirs now; but if you look at the particular phraseology and and code words being used, I think it is pretty clear that is what they are doing.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

I hate being awake. Being awake means being hurty. I've been awake since 4 am. But the good news is that I only have four days left in this work week.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

had a conversation with a volunteer at the library today - about all this. I didn't really mean to get into a personal conversation about religion - but it turns out that she is a lot like me in her beliefs. She has a friend that wants to get her invovled in a major xmas day do - and she doesn't want to . I think those that are killing christmas, are those of us that want to say home lolling under the tree eating, openning presents and watching movies. how dare we chose lesiurely and slowpaced.
