Alpena. Which isn't northern compared to, say, Marquette, MI, I guess. But for the lower penninsula it's kinda northern.
And in totally other news, I found out just before leaving work today that we'll probably see layoffs in the next week or so. No idea if I'll be one of them or not. I have 70+ applications out and not one interview, so any secure employment~ma hanging about would be appreciated, please.

I know, I know. My Dad's from Carlshend (20 minutes east of Marquette).
I haven't been up there in ages. Pity--it's lovely. But after Grandpa died there wasn't as compelling a reason to go as there had been.
Also, it takes 12 million hours to drive up there. At least.

Turned out I was still in the system from 7 years ago, so they just needed my LA DL. I had my birth certificate just in case, though. It's nice that I get to keep my ol DL#, though, because for some odd reason I still remember it.
I've never lived anywhere where snow stayed on the ground. It's as mysterious to me as living in a dome on Mars.
