2) The hurricane stripped many trees bare. It was an ugly debris strewn bleak world for a bit there. Then nature pleasantly surprised me. The bare trees sprouted buds and are now covered with tiny spring green leaves. This is so odd in November. The broken limbs still hang in the trees with their remaining leaves withered, but they lay in the midst of new foliage. It's my favorite green that spring leaf green.
I'm all "Stay gold, Ponyboy" now and its making me teary. Laura, that sounds so beautiful.
I wake up badly. Badly. My Mother did it for me until the day I rolled over and kicked her for her trouble (I was DEAD asleep, mind you, it was a startle thing, I did not assault my mother.) After that if she heard the snooze too many times she'd stand in the doorway and flick my light.
Squirt guns? Really? Oh, I'm going to like this mommy thing.
The latest device is loud Showtunes. Rap boy will get his butt out of bed to turn that off.
Yes, I have used squirt guns since his room is right by the pool and they were handy. He just grumbled and pulled the covers over his head.
I am a day late but hopefully not a dollar short....
Happy bdays Jilli!
When I was a senior in high school and my friend was a freshman in college, I'd call him every morning to wake him up for his 8am French class. I had to be up anyway so it worked out. Sometimes his stoner roommate would answer and be all "He's asleep." I'd say I KNOW! That's why I'm calling. Anyway, it helped him pass the class...but didn't end up keeping him in school.
The nice thing about college is if you don't want to wake yourself up in the morning, there are usually ways to avoid having early morning classes. I think I had 1 class that started before 11 in my entire 4 years.

One of the things about acting school being so nice and "easy" was that Monday, Wednesday, and Friday we had studio which was eight hours long and started, at the latest, at 9:00. We also weren't allowed to miss studio so we'd watch our friends and roommates go off on three day weekends without us all. the. time.
sighhhh
G-d, I loved it. Every minute.
Yeah, my sister takes three dance classes a day starting at 8:00 a.m., five days a week.
I thought Tech was hard, but it was nothing on the pain art students face.
I took one 8 a.m. class freshman year. Psych 101 lecture. With about 600 of my fellow classmates. I think I made it there twice. There was some kind of small group lab or something in the afternoon, so I went to that and managed to pass the class.
My first two semesters of college I had 8:00 am calculus four days a week. It only ever bothered me when people on my wing kept me up late with the party noise the night before. Sometimes they'd intentionally keep me awake by cranking music while refusing to close their doors and by bouncing a golf ball against my wall.
I was not happy in the dorms.
One of my roommates always took 8 a.m. classes so she would get up and blast my Smiths tape loudly while she got ready. I learned to sleep through it.
my first semester roommate liked to go to bed early (well, 11PM is early at college) I, on the other hand was a night owl. Despite the fact that she was a bitch, when I came in at night/early morning, I would try to be quiet, and I would crack the door, so that the light from the hallway would spill into the room and I could see to get my contact stuff, undress, etc. One night she turned over and snapped "would you close the door!" So, I closed the door and turned on the light. Her choice. Oh, how we hated her.
