Morning, vw! I am procrastinating too. I need to walk the dogs ( get dressed first), determine if Ellie is healthy enough for the gym, and then go. But it all requires that I get up first and I don't want to!

Spike's Bitches 27: I'm Embarrassed for Our Kind.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Damn, just look at the hotness in those pictures!

revives.
Hey, anyone here know anything about running? Or jogging? I'm considering starting an adaptation of the Couch-to-5k program in January. Is this craziness?
Look at the wonderful company I have in my procrastination! Yay! Go us!
FAY!
I know nothing about running or jogging...especiallly right now, since I'm not allowed. Maybe juliana will come along soon and have some thoughts.

I'm sorry to say that all my knowledge of running is purely theoretical. Of course, the same goes for mating with Hawaiian monk seals, and I still feel comfortable recommending the former.
Hey there, Ms bug!
I know it's a bit of a random question, but I'm thinking that possibly I could do this, and that would be cool.
I have decided that I'm going to get fit enough to climb Mount Sinai. And then I'm going to climb Mount Sinai. Whether weight training or running is a better focus for me in January I'm not yet sure. Perhaps both.
(What would be inexpressibly cool is if I could manage to lose enough weight/become fit and strong enough to dare to try Martial Arts of some kind and/or fencing within the next couple of years. Now that would rock mightily.)

...however much fitter I may become, however, I think that mating with said seals is not going to top my list of Desirable Forms of Exercise.
I could be mistaken. But, gosh, I really hope not.

I know that it sucks and I hate it.
On a more constructive note, it's not craziness. 5K is a very doable goal. Start with intervals (walk for a certain number of steps, then run for a certain number). I like a ratio of 1 running segment to 3 walking segments at first, and then after a couple days of that, 2-to-2, and then 3-to-1 (this is going for 20 minutes, not worrying about distance) as my get-my-ass-in-gear routine. Other folks recommend 10 minutes walking to 2 minutes running and working up from there.
Breathe well, from your abs. And heel-toe your steps. Both those things will make it hurt much less.
juliana's the real go-to person on running, though.
Just got back from the store. Mal can sit in the shopping cart now - YAY!!! This makes things SO much easier. And he had a great time. He especially loved the escalator-ramps that the carts lock onto to go between floors.
(psst, vw...why are you awake?)
Kat can also help you with running questions, Fay, but with both your schedules, you'll probably never catch up.
I started the program, and it was great. Nice and gradual, but effective -- you can feel stuff get easier.
As for running as a whole, it does suck. Ah, well.
Also, if your instructor is thusly inclined and any good, you don't need to be prepare your fitness to start a martial arts program. You can make the martial arts part (or all) of your fitness program.
(psst, vw...why are you awake?)
Um...because it's almost 8am. And I have homework due today.
I know that it sucks and I hate it.
Raq is me!
