I knew a FAS researcher when I was pregnant with my first. She could bend your ear, at length, about US women being scared out of their panties for no good reason. Women were calling her in hysterics saying (literally) I put Kahlua on my ice cream and I just found out I'm pregnant and should I abort OMG OMG.
When the real story, the true story, is that if you're a constant drinker, you can have a much healthier baby by reducing or elimiinating your drinking. Not "the damage is already done and you've fucked your kid's life" but "Stop drinking now, and the kid will be in better shape."
