As much as I love cooking? I'm totally with you on that one. It's the 21st century. Where are my food pills, damn it!

I pay the bills, do the grocery shopping, and cook (or order out if necessary). He cleans. If he cooked, we'd be eating Tuna Casserole or hot dogs and Fritos. ::shudder::

But then one of my all-time favorite meals is the magazine casserole thing my mom used to make, which is macaroni, ground beef, and Campbell's tomato soup, with bread crumbs on top. I have the taste buds of a 15th century peasant, apparently.

Maybe I could cope with this variant. My mother made it with macaroni, ground beef, and stewed tomatos, without any additional seasoning one would find in soup. It was called slumgullion, and I still have nightmares about it.

Hmmm. I think I will go grocery shopping when I leave here. That will be soon because it is really dark and working by the glow of a laptop monitor only is getting to my eyes. I hope that Publix will have actual real food. I have big peanut butter love, but fresh veggies and a slab of something meat like would be good.

I just ran home to see if I could get the generator back up and running for the kids and MIL. Alas, I think the rain did something. Maybe spark plugs wet or something along those lines. No power again.

To add to the mememe post. Almost all the traffic lights are either not working or just missing. The 4 way stop thing works wonderfully most of the time, then along comes a person or two that just don't get it and the system is trashed. My route from home to office includes a number of missing stop signs too. MOST people stop anyway, but there are still a few that don't get it. I try and avoid the main roads and take side streets, but most of them are single lane due to the debris piles.

Still grateful for lots of good stuff though. It could be because of the previous experience of last year, but people are very good natured. An unusual number of mellow people. No hurry. Twice today people waved me ahead in lines at stores. People always waving me ahead at traffic stops. A few million people in the same state and mostly cool about it. Of course a couple days more of high temperatures and rain could harsh that mellow.
