Damn, it's such a TONIC to have half an hour or so to plough through this thread. I mean, I know I missed a gazillion posts, but still, the several hundred I just read have me brimming with bitchlove. Bless you all.
Thoughts:
Gris = Adorability on Toast. Gershwin Girl is the OTN, although StrawGirl is also lovely, and gives me a very L Frank Baum mental image of her.
Curry = generally yummy. Although there's such a vast array of different foods that fall under that name - comparing a Korma or a Passanda to a Rogan Josh or a Patia or a Biriani...damn, now I miss Britain. Not enough Curry Houses in Egypt.
Thai Curry = possibly even yummier than 'regular' curry. I prefer combinations of flavours - I just adore the juxtaposition of sweet'n'sour, hot'n'sour, salt-sweet, bittersweet, all that jazz. Cookies that don't contain a hefty pinch of salt to balance out the sugar leave me very meh. I put cinnamon and cocoa in my Chilli. Thai Curry is teh yum.
Eggs - generally a good thing, although occasionally unexpectedly evil.
Gothic!Em = Teh Cute. Bless.
The Family Von Zmayhem = highly photogenic and impeccably turned out, cunning hats et al.
Kittens = epitome of cuteness.
Evidently I need to find Erika's interview asap.
In the world of me, I decided to try and lose weight, and have been actively pursuing said goal for 3 weeks now. I'm looking at a long term plan of a year or more of actively attempting to lose weight. It's rather exciting - I can't remember the last time I genuinely felt motivated like this (although there have been occasional half-hearted bursts of 'I should lose weight' from time to time, as distinct from 'I'm going to lose weight'). I've even joined a gym, although with no intention, at this juncture, of doing anything more intimidating than a half hour or so on a treadmill. (I'm planning to concentrate on making the Gym a Not Scary Place for a while, before trying to do anything intense.) And I'm going Scottish Country Dancing every week, which is fun. I also joined the Cairo Choral Society a month or two ago, and I'm really enjoying the challenge of trying to learn how to sing (not to mention reading sheet music and singing in Latin - we're doing Beethoven's Mass in C, which is fabulous). School is still fun - my colleagues are v. nice. Right now 3 good friends live in our building and another lives a few houses away on our street and a fabulous new deli/coffeeshop place has opened a scant few yards away from our building - it's becoming surprisingly like 'Friends', with our very own Central Perk.
Love you lot. Miss you.
