I gave up on SV a while ago, and I'm not sure if JM is enough to draw me back in. Maybe I could tape it, then watch with the sound off to enjoy all the pretty. Make up my own dialog. That sort of thing.

Sounds to me like taking Em is a good idea. Besides keeping you busy, babies make people happy, especially ones as cute as Em.
While on our walk with the dogs this morning, Ellie fell asleep. This is great, except that I wanted to go to the gym. The longer she sleeps, the more my motivation to go seems to be creeping away.

Tape it, skip any scene with Lana in it -- but listen to the JM scenes so you can experience the disconcerting accent combined with the Spikey vocal inflections.
I need car-ma, my brakes are squealing. I'm worried it will be an expensive brake job.
Brakes start to squeal when the pads are just about worn out. So if you attend to it right away, you just have the pads to replace (which are cheap). But if you wait too long (and continue to drive the car), you can do more expensive dammage to the brakes.
I just realized the brakes were squealing some the other day, but it wasn't every time I sued the brakes, this morning it was every time. Luckily there is no reason for me to use my car this weekend. I'm going to find some place where I can take my car in on Monday.
It taking Em will make you feel in any way better take Em. And it sounds like it will make your Grandfather happy.
If you can't bear to watch Smallville I suggest you tape it if only to hear James Marsters say things like "TheRe's no such thing as vampiRes, ClaRk."
