"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I like fruitcake though I don't think I've had a really great homemade one.

What I really like though is rum cake. A great rumcake is bliss.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

....Hec's List of His 5 Best Desserts.

I already did that one.

Recently?

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

It did include dried raisins, currants, cranberries, blueberries, cherries and apricots (soaked overnight in booze). The only candied thing in it was ginger.

Ok, now that I would eat. Or might even try to make. It's just the candied stuff that skeeves me.

My neighbor makes a rum cake that will knock you on your ass. I suspect it's pretty much what a fruitless fruitcake would be.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Ahem....

SET YER CLOCKS BACK!

Daylight Saving Time ends this weekend - set your clocks back one hour Saturday night (it actually ends at 2:00 am Sunday). Congress has increased the length of Dayling Saving Time, but that change does not take effect this year.

No, but I haven't had a dessert to crack the top five in recent years. I may be quick to list in hierarchical order, but my standards are not fickle.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

The One True Cookie in Susan's world is a classic homemade chocolate chip, buttery, crisp, and not too sweet, and with just the right amount of chocolate chips to accentuate but not overwhelm the buttery, vanilla-y flavor of the cookie.

Runner-up is an equally classic homemade sugar cookie, made into sandwiches with homemade chocolate fudge icing

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

ita, have/can you say something to them about it?

She was gone by the time I realised what had happened. She'll probably get upset, but whatever. Another co-worker had late afternoon popcorn that automagically gave me a migraine every single time he ate it at his desk, and when I mentioned it, he was really nice about it.

I feel terrible, not just about the imposition, but about being so damned feeble and precariously balanced.

I'm also going to go have a lie down in my car.

Er, I should clarify. I just meant, have you posted your dessert list recently, not have you updated it recently.

Ooh, and peanut butter cookies are TEH YUM, especially if they're almost burnt so they're nice and crispy.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

One of my wedding cakes was fruitcake, as is right and proper.

I like it best with dried and alcohol-soaked fruits, myself.
