"The fact that we live at the bottom of a deep gravity well, on the surface of a gas covered planet going around a nuclear fireball 90 million miles away and think this to be normal is obviously some indication of how skewed our perspective tends to be."

Neon cubes are not compulsory. The cake we made last year was from Good Eats and included no neon. It did include dried raisins, currants, cranberries, blueberries, cherries and apricots (soaked overnight in booze). The only candied thing in it was ginger.

I love dried fruits. I used to drive my mother nuts picking all the weird little floury date "worms" from the gorp we got from the grocery store.

I don't even like oatmeal-raisin cookies

Freak

Oh, I'm fully aware that I'm bizarrely finicky in general. I'd make a lousy Iron Chef taster because there are just enough things I can't stand no matter how well they're done. But I'm not the kind of finicky that rules out whole cusines or spices or anything like that--just desserts with dried fruit (I sometimes like raisins in savory dishes), raw fish, slices of raw tomato (it's a texture thing--I don't like the squishy inner bits--so I'm fine with seeded chopped tomato in salsa, bruschetta, etc.), and so on. I'm not happy about being so finicky--I mean, who wants to be a sushi-hater in Seattle?--but I don't see how I can change my taste buds and texture squicks this late in the game.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

One of my former coworkers used to love fruitcake. She'd send a, "Good home to unwanted fruitcake" email out after every Thanksgiving, and usually ended up with enough free fruitcake to last her through Easter.

I like some fruit-based desserts, but the store-bought fruitcakes I've had usually tasted more plasticy-sweet than fruit-like.

I don't like oatmeal cookies at all. Most biscuits, really. They're too dry. I have to dip them in tea or eat them with yoghurt.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Oatmeal cookies would taste much better if they included chocolate.

And count me in as another fan of the fruitcake.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Oatmeal cookies are my favourite, my OTC, since they keep the moisture much better than all the rest.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

I just placed a stock photo image that looks like the photographer traveled to Heaven to get the shot. Check out image FLW100 at : here

FLW87 has the same feel to it.

What's with all the fruitcake talk? I don't think Bush is going to go with Brown.

Gud with the funny!

In my experience, fruitcake was always something that arrived in the mail from a distant and not-well-liked relative. Also, they turn into oversized hockey pucks rather quickly, if not consumed right away.

Thrive to spite them

When I was looking up recipes to submit to the Buffista Cookbook I ran across my great grandmothers White Fruitcake. I'd never seen the recipe before but Mom said it was wonderful so we are going to make it this year.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.
