Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I go out of my way to emphasize the nature of the internet community, though.

See, now, Nora, if you buy 50 copies of my book, you can just hand that out instead. It would save time.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

So many people meet their partners online that that seems like it would be easier to slide by without a whole story.

sometimes it is, sometimes it's not. I've never gotten a negative reaction though, so much of the explaining is from my own dumb head.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Oh my god, INTERNET! I miss you so much.

Also, I think it's nice that all the "offical" people at the Serenity thing were describing you people as friends and not fans.

I think that was just Tim and John. The guy from The Hollywood Reporter asked me if Joss knew who I was and I laughed.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I think it's nice that all the "offical" people at the Serenity thing were describing you people as friends and not fans.

Not that the place wasn't full of fans, and not that there's anything wrong with that ... but, yeah, it was nice.

When I got to re-meet AD with Colin, it briefly flashed through my mind that "Hey! Non-fan connection!" but then a) I'd had a cover story the first time and b) I blurted out something terribly fannish about Angel later on anyway.

I have a friend who's getting involved with a guy she met playing online games (Everquest, or something). I'm pretty sure that no story I have will sound geekier than that, and who knows where the relationship will go? Who cares how geeky it sounds, if it works out?

It must have been at the same time I was writing you a letter! It's so nice to receive mail that isn't a bill.

What is even happening?

My agent met msbelle and Jesse and dropped me an email that read, "you really do know people everywhere!"

I asked Buffistas a question, for a friend, the other day. I mentioned to her later that two of the people I'd expected to hear from were in Greece and Australia. She was all, "You have really far flung contacts," amazed I know people so far away from me.

Her reponse amused me, because this particular friend is a Bronzer who lives in UK (Rachie, for those that know her).

I agree! For my part, I don't really care what other people think, it's just more of a in-the-moment, "how will this go over with this person" social anxiety thing. The anxiety is not really connected to shame or desire for approval.
