Oh my, the corner bar near where I worked in downtown Philly served a thanksgiving sandwich year round that was so good. There was gravy in there too. Hungry now.

I made a second trip to Oxford, mainly for the sandwich.
This happened to me too: I had an incredible sandwich at some beach cafe in Cinque Terre. What made it incredible was the tomato; I don't remember anything else that was on that sandwich. I went back the next day for the tomato.
Favorite sandwich: Zingermans had a special on Spanish items one February. They had a special sandwich with manchego and seed cake-- sweet bliss. I had it on like February 25 and went back every day after until the end of the month. I haven't had it since.

I don't categorize and rank like Hecubus and Bob Bob. My brain doesn't work that way. Maybe I'm not linear enough. Maybe I'm just indecisive. Maybe I conflate too much.
One of my favorite sandwiches was one I assembled with a swiss army knife while sitting on the steps of the Piazza San Marco. Fresh hunks of mozzarella, tomatoes, baby spinach, on still-warm Italian bread, all purchased from the grocery around the corner, accompanied by a bottle of white wine.
I'll never have that sandwich again.
