everybody's fancy, everybody's fine
your body's fancy, and so is mine!
OK, nice that I skimmed through a bunch of posts, and the only thing I want to do is ask bon to help me with my homework:
JZ, if you're a non-citizen that's been wrongfully denied welfare benefits from the NYC HRA administration, Come On Down! You've just made tens or even dozens of dollars!
Were there any nonprofits involved with that, like an amicus brief or whatever?

I can't seem to get it up for these people. They didn't know they had to get permission to perform a musical that belongs to someone else?
I don't understand.
I think we found the secret to Katie Holmes' pregnancy:

There's a lot of nonprofit legal organizations involved, but we haven't filed a complaint yet-- meaning the case hasn't come to court yet, so no amici.
I was just trying to google a similar case, because I know one is pending, but couldn't find it. But ask away.

Allyson, a group of "Buffy" fans in Israel does this (from the convention site):
Once More With Feeling, a stage show in Hebrew of the famous "Buffy-The Musical" episode from the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" television show. This episode, which was nominated for an Emmy, has developed a cult following and a wide range of fans, and has been used as a base for many and different showings around the world, including in Israel. The musical is being shown with the courtesy of the Technion Cell for Science Fiction and Fantasy by the Bitcast - a cast of amateur actors made up mostly of fans of the show. The Bitcast production is being shown for the first time in Israel as a full musical, including song, dance, acting, all live, without playback and in Hebrew. After the show, there will be a meeting with the cast.
I know they were concerned about the matter of rights, but as far as I know (and I don't really know all that much), they didn't get anything legal done, eventually. Then again, maybe they thought that since it's Israel, there is very little chance of them being caught?
[Edit: I'm not trying to trash them or anything! I really don't know anything about their behind-the-scenes activities, nor have I ever seem their show. I know that there was a question regarding rights at some point, I have no idea how it was settled.]
It's an eeeevil riddle, it took me forever to solve it (cutting down vegetables for 2 big salads for all the guests on the holiday, plus most of washing the dishes afterwards): to construct the umber 21 out of 1, 5, 6 and 7. All four of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division operations are allowed, and only them. Each number must be used in the calculations exactly once.
Hmm. Tricky. I've found a bunch of different ways to get 22, but not 21. I'm trying to see if there's a systematic way to do this, or if it's just trying a bunch of different stuff.
Hil! Is your schedule this month all crazy because of the holidays?

I tried to sort of work backwards, to see which numbers I'd need and then try to create them from the combinations of the others. I didn't manage to be more methodical than that.

Yep. Pretty much everything has been on a day when I had something to do (the one exception was the second day of Rosh Hashanah), so I've been scrambling to catch up lately.

Yeah, that's what I've been doing. Nothing's worked quite yet. Everything I've tried has two 1s in it. I'm trying to figure out how to fix that.

I checked a brain food site to get a hint, but they have "make 1 out of 1,5,6,7". I didn't see a 21 and they had like 100 pf these problems listed.
I've solved the puzzel, (whitefonted) except I did it in a weird way. The way I did it is not prohibited by the rules, so I say I win.
Someone tell me if there's another way to solve it: It's easy if you assume the numbers are in base eight. Is that cheating?
eta to whitefont more....
