Pfft. During the El Nino winter ('99?) it rained 57 days out of 60. And they weren't light showers either.

Lightweight. '99 was the 91 consecutive days of rain in Seattle. That year, pharmacies in Seattle ran short of Prozac (really! It was in the paper!).

Ann, that's a ferret.

Bits of sun in DC right now.

Only bits, but they'll do for now.

Yeah, but it always rains in Seattle. You don't have an expectation of sunshine.

I moved to San Francisco at the beginning of the 5 year drought. That was fucking great! I love droughts. It's a desert climate, people!

New word of the day that I swear never existed before the DOCUMENT FROM HELL was written (still not finished, BTW):

Operationalize.

"The list below reflects the current values of the School, as determined by faculty and students. The bullet points document ways in which each value is operationalized."

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

I am pretty sure "operationalize" was a word coined by the US military. It smacks of that pedigree.

They're curiously inventive with words. They coined "exfiltrate" off of "infiltrate," and a ton of other fun words. Including snafu!

I will forgive a bit of jargon suffixizing for the same of "exfiltrate."

When you have nothing to say, invent new words to say it with.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

dw, I use operationalize on a weekly basis. No shit. It is a specific term in statistics & research.

What is even happening?

I think I love exfiltrate, and I also love the typo I made at first, which was extrilfate.

Yes, but not 91 days in a row.

You don't have an expectation of sunshine.

We have an expectation that it's going to drip like Chin, er, Asian water torture, not come down like God knocked back a 12-pack of Rainier and thinks Seattle is the urinal cake.

I moved to San Francisco at the beginning of the 5 year drought.

I moved to Seattle just in time for the El Nino and La Nina winters of the late 90s.
