sorry DJ, I have been knitting for a while but I don't do it much and I don't ever do complex stuff. I am just now learning patterns. My brother has shamed me into stepping it up, he's only been knitting a year and knows way more than I do.

I do this cast on with the yarn wrapped around my thumb. It is an ugly cast on. My brother calls it the jack-ass cast on. I did my first long tail cast on just a few months ago.
