I loved that Clemens tried to end it with one swing. He really had nothing to lose by swinging as hard as he could. If he had singled, they couldn't pinch run for him, so Burke would've had to homer anyway just to get him around from first.

Well, he could have thrown his back out, which would have meant an instant forfeit unless Pettitte was available to play the field.
Oswalt was in the dugout, so they could've sent him out there.
Even if Oswalt or Petitte weren't there, the forfeit wouldn't occur until the top of the 19th. The Astros would still get two more outs.

That plastic water bottle lives in a really nice appartment.
It looked like one of those square fiji bottles, so that doesn't surprise me.

Wonder who would have pitched. Biggio?

Biggio does everything else, so why not. (Note, I'm a big fan of my fellow alum.)
Hi Nutty!Mom -- how about China Empress or Chinoiserie for a board name?
I am holding a baby on my lap and trying to grade. It isn't working very well, although somehow posting is possible. Anyway, guess what? I'm going on a real live Date tonight! MiL is babysitting and we have reservations at a nice French restaurant that does a prix fixe menu on Sundays.
