It's damp, warm and humid here. What happened to fall?
It's cool here--the 7-day forecast has us between 55 and 70 at the most for the next week. They finally turned the boiler on overnight, because the bathroom radiator was actually warm this morning. Of course, the cat is pissed because she can't sit in the window well, only the ledge, but she gets used to it. I'm debating if I should put the two fans into the closet for the winter (I just know that as soon as I do, we'll have a bout of Indian Summer with the temperature pushing 85-90).
Fall is here.
With it come allergies, but I'll take that trade-off.
Well, they cancelled the gig, at least for today.(and that's all G and I signed up for, so we're free)

Well, in loving memory of my father: Pbbbbbbllllt
I strongly suspect, if there is a heaven, that my mother extended heartfelt sympathies to the dearly departed members of Red Sox Nation. Then she went and joined a loud and exuberant party for the White Sox fans. First time the White Sox won a post-season series in 88 years – since the 1917 World Series.
Oh, my poor children. They think they feel the full depth of pain of a citizen of Red Sox Nation. They've seen the Red Sox as World Series Champions before they were 8, 6, and 4.
They think they know what's to come, what we are… They haven't even begun.
This is an important step in their development. Loving something that will break their hearts. And continuing to love it anyway.
It's damp, warm and humid here. What happened to fall?
Yeah, no kidding. When I'm still wearing a tank top and sandals in October, there is a problem.
It's finally sunny here in RAINY Florida, so I may actually get to spend some time outside. Though, wow, we slept late today. Eh, it's what vacations are for sometimes.
(Thanks Raq and beth!)
I think today is going to be a shopping day. One of my favorite kinds of day.
I went out to the grocery store at the Porter Square shopping center, and realized that not only is there now a really nice independent bookstore in the strip mall area, there's also a Burlington Coat Factory now. Which means I'm
doomed.
Or else extremely lucky.
I bought $47 worth of stuff at the bookstore (the Bookman Cat calendar, because that often sells out well before the new year, a new Robin Hobb hardback, and a Barbara Hambly paperback I hadn't gotten around to) but right there right now because with Wordsworth gone
(sniffles briefly!)
I need to support all the independents I can.
Now I just have to do some housecleaning.
Today I get to go to my auto dealer and demand an explanation for the defective safety tire that ruptured within the first mile of being driven on yesterday. I wish the nice people at Firestone hadn't patched it, so I'd still have the more dramatic flat tire with detached nozzle to slam down on my dealer's desk—but I think the scored and deformed metal where I had to drive miles on the wheel rim will speak eloquently for me.
For some reason, googling Brentano's isn't giving me a site for the store. It's no Vroman's, but I was wondering how "independent" it was. I feel hypocritical, because I'm learning to love the Century City mall, despite mocking my parents for their devotion to it during their visit. But that was
before
the Aerosoles and Apple and Palm stores. It's totally different now.
Ooo, a Palm store? There's a Palm kiosk at a downtown mall near work, but that isn't quite the same.
