I'm just waiting to see if I pass out. Long story.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Friends of mine had a small farm where they kept horses and a small flock of sheep, but one year they tried pig-keeping. They named the pigs "Breakfast," "Lunch," and "Dinner," which kept their ultimate fate front and center.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

When I was dabbling in Tai Chi, it was made very clear from the beginning that we were learning a martial art. It was also made clear that, as beginners, we really shouldn't try to use it outside of class unless our attackers were moving veeeerrrryyyyy sllloooooowwwwllllyyyy.

The moves were mostly defensive, but they were often defensive in a "and if someone approaches you this way, doing this will let you use their own strength to break their arm." Slow doesn't necessarily mean gentle.

I have no idea how it's taught to children.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Oh, oh! This will totally not be interesting to at least 9/10 of the people here, but I found a book yesterday which purports to explain Godel's theorem to the non-specialist, and so far (read three chapters in bed last night) so good!

Incompleteness? I finished that recently; it's pretty good. Although going online explained the theorem to me better.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I hope it starts resolving, soon.

Thanks.

Ooh, I just discovered that if I close my right eye, I can just about make out the clock on the wall of my office. So there's been some improvement in the last few days.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

I saw Jehovah today for the first time in weeks. Seems like our Lord is displeased with automobiles; he kept making "PSHHHHHHT!!!" noises at the cars driving by and shooting them a wrathful finger.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I am sentimentally over-attached to GEB, and bristle at the idea that there's anything better.

What is even happening?

I totally get that. He might be a useful carpool buddy in a bad morning commute.

Sure it's not just foreign models? I remember some of my MI relatives having the same reaction to Toyotas in the '80s.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

OK, I just heard a promo for the Columbus Day Parade here, with Antonin Scalia, Maria Bartiromo, and Joe Piscopo. Is that the most random group of three Italian-Americans you've ever heard?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

You posted this JUST to bait Hec, didn't you?

Only if he is up for belly-raspberries.

Are you offering?

Cindy, I have a vast collection of TV themes and have studyied the subject. It's cool when you find out that Earle Hagen wrote the whistling them for Andy Griffith, as well as the super moody "Harlem Nocturne" and the spy action "I Spy" themes.

Jeff Barry (as I've noted before), the Archies honcho, wrote The Jefferson's theme. He had one of the cast members sing it too, I recall. Maybe the daughter of the mixed race couple?

Raq, I did have some snarky allusion to Rebecca Gayheart and Dead Like Me but didn't want to be spoilish. But I'll white font and say She got kicked off DLM and Firefly very early, and I can't help but wonder if it's related to her manslaughter charge, where she went around a stopped car at crosswalk and ran over a kid. Not that they were directly related, but just that she might have a particularly selfish and reckless personality.
