Actually, I was thinking it would be sort of like a pet. You know, we could...we could name her Trixie, or Miss Kitty Fantastico, or something.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Yes, flea, you need new clothes. I suggest Chadwicks and Target for basic inexpensive pieces.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Maybe they're just more worn than yours, since I have fewer clothes and wash them more often?

Absolutely! Furthermore, if you get new clothes now, when the fall/winter stuff is on sale (I think Kohls has a 30% off sale right now) the older ones will last even longer, so they won't fall apart at another, more expensive shopping time.

I had an old winter coat absolutely disintegrate once at the end of February. Sure, it was going to be 60F in 2 weeks, but at the time it was still ~35. Trying to find a winter coat that fit then was difficult and, given the running around and eventual ordering off the web (thus tacking on shipping), expensive.

You need to shop. You need to shop now. And you need to buy several beautiful yet quite necessary items. It's the only fiscally responsible thing to do.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I found Mesa "just OK" too, for dinner, but I like the margaritas.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

At Canon Expo the company also demonstrated a rather cheesy, but quite addictive new feature for its range of digital cameras. Expected to arrive on new models next year Smile Shot is a system that detects when the person in focus is smiling and then automatically takes a picture

That freaks me out.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

It's like the camera equivalent of "Smile! Things can't be that bad!"

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

It's like the camera equivalent of "Smile! Things can't be that bad!"

More like the camera equivelent of, "Smile, human, or I will exterminate!!!"

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

After all the clothing talk here, I went out on my lunch hour to Marshalls, and bought three pairs of corduroy trousers, six pairs of tights, two pairs of hiking socks and a belt. Total cost: $110.64

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

My parents are renting a nice house on St. Charles that belongs to a friend of theirs. My mother just came online to tell me that the house has power, so I can help them move down there tomorrow when I drive down. She's so excited to have a place of their own.

What is even happening?

Oh, yay for the good news, Dana. They'll feel so much better, settled. I'm so happy for them.
