'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

What I've heard instead of master/slave is parent/child, which expresses the relationship in a non-sexist, less charged manner.

Jaguar cub, as well as performing goat with cute monkey rider, are very cool pictures indeed.

Is the issue with "master/slave" because of the sexual meaning or because of the black slavery meaning?

Master/Apprentice? Boss/Peon? Bert/Ernie? Frodo/Sam (or Sam/Frodo)? Buffy/Spike?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

But the master drive doesn't control the slave drive. The controller controls them both -- the master drive is the one that, on the primary controller, is the bootable drive. And the one that the OS assigns the first letter/whatever designation.

The terms master/slave are wrong. If you're going to bother changing it (which I still think is overreaction -- the words master and slave are not barbs, just descriptors -- if they'd been called master and nigra, or something, I'd get it), there's no point maintaining the false relationship.

Primary and secondary is about it.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Caveman/Astronaut!

Only on Linux systems. Windows would stay "Astronaut/Caveman." Because that would give us more to fight about.
