Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

So Bush once again chooses loyalty over competency? Good Lord, that man has a thick skull.

information libertarian

Dick Cheney II - Electric boogaloo. I mean, I really don't think it's that smart to pick the person in charge of the search committee for the job. So much for the CEO president.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

It's exactly Dick Cheney II.

In happier news, my car didn't get an overnight ticket, and I was able to move it to a non-permit space. Take that, The Man!

Our wings are not tired.

May your shiny new car always duck The Man.

Really, I am without words on the nomination. It is just business as usual. Supreme Court appointments as gifts for political friends.

Need coffee.

Now tagless for your comfort.

So Bush once again chooses loyalty over competency?

The fact that she's never been a judge means no judicial record. It will be twice as tough to find grounds on which to base an argument against her nomination. That fact that she's in his inner circle and was his private attorney assures him of her loyalty to his legislative agenda.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I'm kind of confuzzled by the Bush nomination for the Supreme Court. Shouldn't one of the most important judges in the country have experience as a judge? Or is that just crazy talk?

Historically, it's not that uncommon for a non-judge to be nominated.

It's not unprecedented to nominate non-judges to SCOTUS. But when non-judges get nominated, they tend to be high-profile politicians like Earl Warren, who was Governor of California, or William Taft, who was an ex-president.

I'd say that it's pretty unusual to nominate someone with this low a profile.

What is even happening?

Yes, I attempted to order an iced vanilla latte at Krispy Kreme a few weeks ago. After several minutes of discussion with three separate employees, I was told that they had the wrong menu out and were, in fact, not allowed to put a latte over ice.

Yes, I'm serious.

Heh. When I was a little kid, my mother had a Jack Nicholson in Five Easy Pieces moment, trying to order Iced Coffee at a Friendly's restaurant, in the Fall. Friendly's sold Iced Coffee in the summer, but they must have taken it off the menu come Autumn.

Do you have any coffee?

Do you have any ice?

Honestly, I don't see any evidence of a botched campaign. It may just be that the concept itself has limited appeal and isn't going to do better than that. But I have no problems with the marketing blitz I've seen from Universal - ads have been everywhere, and most of the ones I've seen have been good representations of the movie.
Yeah. I don't even notice commericials. I even miss ones I want to see, because I so completely tune them out. I watch DVDs way more than I watch live TV, and yet I've caught the Serenity spots without looking for them. Plus they had a "Can't Stop the Signal" ad on TiVo. I'm not going to fault their campaign.

I still spent a few nights in the papasan, but the difficulty there was in not being able to extricate myself.

Oh, dear. I hated that Turtle-On-Its-Shell part of pregnancy.

Of course. We have midnight black, twilight black, and classic black. What's your pleasure?
