The Burbank fire, which is two hills over from our house in Silverlake, just flared up within the last hour. The hills are now doing a remarkable impersonation of a volcano.
The pall of smoke hanging low over the hills and basin is quite visible and thick. The hills around the Cahuenga pass, about 5 miles from here, are barely visible. Century City is almost completely obscured by its wreath of smoke. Any large oceans beyond that are mere rumor.
