Oh, damn, tommy. Much, much -ma to you and your eye.
What happened to the offices like in the movie 9-5 where there are, like 1400 secretaries with some supervisor secretaries? I need that, but my experience is more like 1400 bosses, one secretary.
Maybe your university is like mine? State budget cuts and crunches and belt-tightenings have made it almost impossible for anyone to get a raise, leading in the last decade to lots and lots of people being unable to get even a cost-of-living increase at their present level, and thus being reclassified to upper-level admin or analyst positions in order to get salary boosts; the two marked consequences of which are that there are some job duties upper level admins and analysts aren't
allowed
to do, so the folks who didn't get reclassed got more work, and that lots and lots of divisions now have 1400 bosses, one secretary. Verily doth it suck.
Non-driving exclamatory xpost!
I almost made one too! Go go team don't-need-cars-at-all!
Okay, it's lunchtime. Good thing I have an umbrella stashed in my desk.
I almost made one too! Go go team don't-need-cars-at-all!
I may have a 30 second commute to work, but I do actually leave the downtown occasionally for the burbs (and even beyond). Plus, I commuted for years, so I feel that pain (still).
Oh dear, tommy, I'm so sorry. I hope there's not much loss, maybe just a soft glow to everything so stuff looks prettier.
And now I'm imagining tommyrot getting an ocular implant that lets him fiddle with his left eye for Photoshop-like effects. It's all sepia! Watercolor effect! Photonegative! Neon tones! Blue wash!
Though, really, I'm just vibing hard for minimal vision loss, because I still remember the great tommyrot pictures of the first F2F, and all the great ocean-liner cars you have yet to drive, and all the good things that Brownie has no right to take from you, no right at all.
Eh. I'm also not good with having so many people around. Crowds can make me feel claustrophobic. I guess I'm more expressing my thanks that I don't have to drive in the city that often, since even without that drawback, I wouldn't want to live there.
Though, I guess that depends on the city and what you're doing in it.
Kansas City is not one of those cities.
Anybody want to do geometry to take some of the pressure off my aching brain?
I have a ten minute commute. And being a teacher helps, since traffic is lighter when I leave the house.
Does anyone know what they're dressing up as for Halloween (if they are)?
Full-on 1950s retro Donna Reed. I need to buy an apron. And white gloves. And cat-eye glasses with sparkly things in the frames would be cool, too.
Though I'm inept at trying to do my hair in a 1950s style.
I have a 20 minute commute, mostly on the outskirts of downtown. I don't even actually get on a highway, I just take the ramp to skip the lights.
