Could someone fill me in about what happens after it is announced that the handyman's small finger on his second hand is going dusky ? Thanks much!

There's this stupid ad on tv for a lawfirm. The talking head (I presume one of the partners) is so wooden. I swear, only his mouth moves. And he's so nasal and awkward sounding, I can't see how this drums up business. He isn't bad looking, which makes me wonder if that was why they used him. It's like an anti-hire-us ad.
The other firm that adverts around here, while their ads are TOTALLY calling to the ambulance-chasing stereotype (they even have flashing lights and an AMBULANCE,) are much less offputting.
Why do I even care?

libkitty, I may be missing the high points, but they suspect mysterious p-thing bacteria is in his heart, pumping it about. It's some sort of bird born bug. Turns out Alfredo is moonlighting at cockfights, hence the scars on his hands. None of the family tells this, they deduce. Or something. They treat, he gets better. Yay! What is even happening?
I'm so confused by the damned Lost scheduling. Is the episode that's running from 8-9 (eastern) the same episode that ran last week? Am I missing VM because of *this*? I would have recorded VM and then switched to Lost. UPN is rerunning VM this weekend, so it's not a big deal, but it is an annoying deal.
