Okay, the important issue today, really, is this:
I have to go to a benefit tomorrow night whose organizers decided to make it an 80s theme party.
I am NOT buying 80s-esque clothes, because I will NEVER wear them again. So -- what can I cobble together out of a contemporary wardrobe that might be vaguely "80s"?
Help!
Take something with big blocks of color and add shoulderpads.
Teppy, you might go with a polo shirt (collar up) and jeans.
What do you have, Teppy? What are your blazers like? Could you buy a pair (or two) of shoulder pads to stick in your shirt or blazer. Do you have any leggings? Leg warmers? Can you make your hair big, and wear lots of eye liner?
Here's a selection of pictures both from the 80s and from my friends' annual Hate the 80s night:

There might be some useful ideas in there. I have a kind of scarily big collection of 80s themed clothing now because my band has played the hate the 80s night 3 times now. My favorite look was LL Cool Lisa.
White shirt, collar turned up, vest, a tie, preferably narrow, maybe in leather, black pants, eye-liner, perhaps smoky purple eyeshadow.
Add the freaky upstanding bangs and it won't matter what you wear.
Here's some more 80s night pics. There's so many styles to choose from!

I want a Tab shirt!
Oooh, Teppy. Headband (stretchy cloth kind) worn as a sweatband, or an actual sweatband, for that matter.
drive-by to say hi to the Bitches, and thanks for the trip~ma from yesterday. We have returned, we survived, despite one near-death experience, and Mallory didn't start howling until we were almost home.
But then howl he did, so I'm off to take some aspirin and eat something.
I want a Tab shirt!
An even more impressive one:
