That sounds like Annabel. She preferred the straw cups at first for drinking. Then she pulled out the straws and never drank the liquid, so we switched her to sippy.

I figured, given my need to go back to fulltime work after a few more months, and her hatred of all things bottle, that we might as well work on the sippy. After all, many breastfeeding sites recommend it for a bottle-hating baby.

Now I'm kind of going back to the idea of boobsicles or perhaps trying those freakish bottles that are soft and squishy for that real boobie sensation.

We just started Mal with the sippy cups. I'd tried earlier, but had purchased sippy cups that are nigh unto impossible to get fluid out of. Like everything else, he's plenty agreeable about them.

We've also started putting him in the World's Ugliest Highchair for meals, both his and ours, with he loves.

How did you cook before having a Cuisinart, Plei? I hate not having one so much I brought mine and am running it on a transformer, even though that's not really good for it.

How did you cook before having a Cuisinart, Plei? I hate not having one so much I brought mine and am running it on a transformer, even though that's not really good for it.

Although I grew up with this very one, I actually never really bothered to use it much, being far more the Kitchenaid's bitch, once the Kitchenaid came into our life.

As to how I lived without one: really good knives, cutting boards, and a 5 quart Kitchenaid (if I had it to do over, though, I'd probably have registered for the smaller, cheaper model like my mother has, as I think it is slightly easier to work with).

Ah, yes, the Kitchenaid would explain it. I haven't acquired one yet, although I've been lusting for one for years.

I actually don't use the food processor for chopping or mincing, but it's perfect for cutting butter into dough. And it's been a lot easier for making baby food than using the blender.

How does it compare to using a pastry blender? I love my pastry blender.

I love all the baby talk...nothing to add, but it's fun to read.

Therapist calls in two hours to go over *stuff* and how to start gently easing me back into life. I have prep to do before talking to her. First on the list? My weekly school LJ post, which I'm actually dreading this morning. Ugh. Oh, well. Off to help myself get better.

I like the processor better than the pastry blender, although it's easy to overwork the dough. If I'm making dough by hand, I use my Foley fork rather than my pastry blender.

You know what I need? I need a class in how to use kitchen knives properly. My life got a lot better when I got good knives, but my technique is still poor.

My old job appears to be raining down in chunks from orbit. Not only did they fire about 30 people (including a couple of the government people who were running the project), but they lied about it to the remaining folks, saying that those who left wanted to go, and those who stayed were "committed."

In response, the alpha geeks both resigned, as did about 5 more people.

Just more proof that things work out the way they are supposed to - I'd be out of a job with no warning if I'd been working for them from here.

My full-sized Cuisinart gets pulled out mostly for hummus and shredding potatoes or large amounts of cheese. The mini-prep attachment for my stick blender is the one I use daily -- even with a good chef's knife, mincing garlic is such an annoying fiddly little task. It's good for hot peppers too, because there's less hand contact and less risk of accidentally rubbing capsaicin into my eyes.

There's a culinary school in my neighborhood that has a knife skills class I really want to take.
