Could you work in a few complaints about your MiL?
Totally. We'll be seeing her next weekend!

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I am appeased!
OMG! I'm so excited! My new bag came [link] It's so cool! It's got a place for my cell phone and my PDA and my iPod and my computer (the main reason I got it) and my books and whatnot. It's just perfect and I'm in love!
t glares enviously at people who don't have problems with sweat
Sweaty stuff? What is this 'sweat' of which you speak?
You have kids, right? Did you order them without the glands? And without the summer? Even Indian?
Okay, the handwash stuff goes in a pile on the closet floor.

Hmmm.... Okay, your link confirms that the sheet deposits softener on the clothes (also confirmed by the clothing professional, who says that deposit of softener can also worsen certain stains), but it's not quite debunking the abraiding-of-fabric effect.
I never heard this about dryer sheets. I did hear it about laundry detergant, though, because some of the dry powders supposedly include abradents.

Another very good question. My laundry is simple -- 4 piles. White hard, black hard, white soft, black soft. Not all the black is black (but most is), and not all the white is white (half is). Soft gets woolite, gentle cycle, no tumble dry. Hard gets normal detergent, normal cycle, two go rounds in the dryer.
One dye transfer mishap would annoy me so much I have no urge to experiment. Also, as is, I do so much laundry (one lousy person!) that there's no real economy in consolidation.

One of the things I love about my front loader washer, is that it seems to be gentle enough to eliminate this Handwash concept.
I sort - but partly because there is so much laundry. on a bad week there is a black, blue, red/purple, med , light, towels and stuff like that. We have way too much laundry for 2 people. But enough clothes so we can go about a week and half before we get to the dregs.
