Hil, be sure to talk to zipcar and get a discount for yourself as well as the looser docked.
Spike's Bitches 26: Damn right I'm impure!
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I pumped my own gas in NJ recently, but it was right outside the Holland Tunnel, so maybe the full-service-only law isn't as rigidly enforced that close to NYC? Or maybe the attendant was just being lazy.
Zipcar's lowered their prices for NYC considerably, and I'm thinking of joining. (They used to charge by hour AND mile in NYC, and now they've given us the same 125 free miles/day that their other cities have. The car rates are still pretty high, but for $50/year, free gas, and the ability to join Costco, it's looking verrrrry appealing right now.)
Huh. I've almost never encountered full service gas stations. I didn't realize they still existed.
I would love to move to Oregon, because man-oh-man, do I love PDX.
Of course, I wouldn't need a car most of the time there, because hey--good public transit!
yard set. house clean. all I have to do for the wedding in redo my toes and take a shower,. not bad. I think it is cartoon time.

Yay!
I took a Zipcar
I don't live in a major metropolitan area, and hadn't heard of Zipcar, so I had to check them out.
It seems it's a convenience/discount based car rental agency. Somehow the cars are located near your home (within walking distance), gas and insurance are included. Lots of self-service online also appears to be part of it.
Neat!

Yep. You rent in half hour increments, and once you've got an account, you can reserve online. My neighborhood has a ton of them -- there are two right across the street from me, and about 10 within maybe 4 blocks. And one of the ones right across the street from me is a Mini Cooper, which I love driving -- I'm 4'10", and that's the first car I've every driven where I can position the seat so that I can reach the pedals and see over the dashboard and be far enough back from the airbag. t /Zipcar pimp
We have like 6 zipcars within two blocks of our place. It's really cool. I have a car, but Emily doesn't, and she uses Zipcar when she needs one.
So, do they park these Zipcars in public parking lots or are they at actual "Zipcar stores"?
