Spike: We got a history, him and me. Fred: What? Spike: It was a long time ago. He was a young Watcher, fresh out of the academy when we crossed paths. It was a, what-you-call battle of wills and blood was spilled. Vendettas were sworn. It was a whole-- Fred: My God you're so full of crap. Spike: Yeah. Okay.

Spike's Bitches 26: Damn right I'm impure!

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I will pay folding money to see Daniel carting Harvey around in one of those. IJS.

Still at work.

DH just brought me a hamburger from Nations. Normally I hate hamburgers, but that was the only thing I could think of when he said he would bring me something to eat.

I'm not going to be able to make Serenity tonight. DH and CJ are going though. Even if I can get stuff done in time to meet them, I'm whupped.

Maria married...too cool. I'm SO looking forward to pictures!!!

Remember a few weeks ago when I posted about the ludicrous titles of shows on TLC? Like "Things the Surgeon Left In His Patients," and so forth?

Right now, on TLC, is "Half-Ton Man." Followed by "160-Pound Tumor," and then "Face-Eating Tumor."

Hand to god. I couldn't make this shit up.

And yet I bet Maria is going to go off on her honeymoon without fulfilling her clear duty to get us pictures.

I am, theoretically, working today, although the output, she is not large.

Nookie now. Pictures later. But not of the nookie, because that would just be awkward.

Silence means security silence means approval

Given that Blanton was absolutely terrible his first 6-7 starts, it's remarkable that he's even being mentioned as a ROY candidate.

I'd still vote for Huston Street or Tadahito Iguchi over him, though.

Unless Jay Witasick comes in and throws ten perfect innings, I'm going to finish fifth in roto league this year. OTOH, it's the first time I've won money since 2001.

And since this is the last day of the season, it's time to revisit A. Bartlett Giamatti's "Green Fields of the Mind":

It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops. Today, October 2, a Sunday of rain and broken branches and leaf-clogged drains and slick streets, it stopped, and summer was gone.

(For you baseball non-likers, that would be Paul Giamatti's late father.)

All is well that ends in pizza.

In fact, DCJ, I think you need this: [link]

Nah, too restrictive for the cat. And I don't like the idea of getting steel pitons dug ito my body when Harvey struggled out of that.

Some of us still have the post-season.

Best wishes to Maria and her new DH.
