Saw "Corpse Bride" today. Gosh, that movie was wonderful. It felt like a Russian fairy tale or something. You knew someone you liked was going to be greatly disappointed, and I kept trying to think of ways for it to all work out.
Also, another Elfman soundtrack to acquire.
All the previews were for kids movies, and the theatre had lots of kids, but a lot of them were hustled out.
We have a thunderstorm in Seattle right now, complete with lightning and hail.
This same storm made it to the part of Seattle our church is in (5-6 miles south of the house) about 20 minutes after dw posted. MASSIVE lightning strike and crash of thunder that couldn't have been more than a few blocks away, maybe 2 minutes after the pastor pronounced the couple husband and wife. We were all, "Cool! Fireworks!" but agreed it was just as well it hadn't happened at the key moment.
Really nice couple today. The Anti-Bridezilla.
I thought "Corpse Bride" was in fact based on a Russian fairy tale?
It's been thunderstorming a lot here too, and Mal thinks it's great. If babies this age can only remember 3 days, I'm guessing he thinks it's always rained.
Thanks all for the Corpse Bride info. If it works out, I'll see it in the theater. If not, I'll rent the DVD. If Mirrormask shows up here, I'll give a little jump for glee and go see it, but I think it's unlikely that will happen.
I thought it was interesting that in the Time interview, Gaiman said that McKean doesn't like "fantasy." Interesting because his art is so fantastical.
Yes it was.
So, go connie with the source identification!
Poor askye. That really shouldn't happen. Stupid people in this world.
Much to do today. Hopefully I'll actually get it all done, as yesterday was pretty much a waste. Should probably start with a shower (which never happened yesterday). After the coffee...
Askye, call the collection agency and tell them you don't deal with collection agencies and that you'll send them a "cease and desist" letter. (Just google and find one, fill in the blanks, send it.) Then deal with MCI.
I just wrote the rough draft of an assignment that is due tomorrow. I don't feel it is very good, but am trying to adhere to the "good enough" philosophy.
This is for the class where my first assignment got an A+. I have realized that that terrified me, because there is nowhere to go but down. At least I was able to recognize that and get past it enough to be able to finish the assignment. It's still terrifying, though.
Since no one else is around, I'm going to talk to myself...
Toto is currently curled up on Emily's bed. He misses her! Good thing she comes home today.
