[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Susan, sounds like you've got great perspective on this. And you're exactly right, in a few more interviews you will hit the right combo and whatnot. Just don't get too down in the meantime.

Yay, for a good interview, Susan!

I hate phone interviews. I get distracted by my own imagination. Instead of concentrating on what is being said, I imagine the person on the other end of the line making faces at what I say. And then I begin to make faces at what they say in retaliation. Before too long, I'm imagining my mother yelling at me to not make faces like that lest my face get stuck that way and I've got no clue what the question was.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Yep. I think the interview tomorrow would be a better match for me on pure lifestyle issues. They're similar in that they're part-time contract jobs planning a fundraising event, but today's was for a two-day bike ride in August that would cover a wide swathe of the region to the north of the city, so the "local travel" might get a little onerous. And the timetable would make it hard for me to go to RWA National in July, which is an option I'm trying to keep open. Tomorrow's is for planning a March gala fundraiser for a local organization. Unlike the first one, it's not strictly work-from-home, but it sounds like I could set up an arrangement where I could mostly work from home and maybe go into the office one day a week. And I know a lot more about throwing a big party than throwing a charity bike ride.

Can I blow off all of my homework and just play xBox all night? My profs will understand, right?

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

Yesterday sucked. I was all set to tell everyone about it and ask for punctuation, but I thought I would catch up on the last three days of Bitches that I hadn't had a chance to read yet. Now, all I want to do is give punctuation away. It seems that the last few days have been altogether too difficult.

{{{{Teppy}}}} Idiot!Boy is, well, an idiot. We have some fine men at b.org and I know some others, so I can't say that men suck. But this one clearly does. I think that JZ put it best when she said "my dearest hope for him is that the next woman he falls hard for turns out to be an unrepentant Bush supporter with head lice," and I totally want to steal the curse for future use. You are beautiful and smart and I can't wait to have the opportunity to meet you in person.

Sparky, I'm glad there was just car damage. Perspective is a beautiful thing. I understand your mixed feelings, though. I was once broadsided by a motorcyclist who wasn't wearing a helmet. My first thoughts were for her safety because, motorcyclist and no helmet. Then she started cursing at me as if it were my fault, even though it wasn't. And frankly, the things she said are things that never should be said, regardless of fault. Anyway, my concern for her safety dropped dramatically at that point.

Regarding my crappy day, I just have to say:

a) Regarding jury duty, why don't they call juries for silly things, like spitting gum out on the sidewalk? There are some cases where you really don't even want to know the stuff that they tell you during jury selection, much less what will come out in the trial.

b) Regarding life, I really hate it when I screw up big. I can make all sorts of justifications and excuses after the fact, but that sinking feeling is just awful.

c) Regarding friends, cleaning someone else's house, as opposed to your own, can actually be fun, especially if you do it with the person after you have each had a crappy day and can really talk. It's almost as good as ice cream. Not quite, but almost.

Well, that's the correct way to refer to everything/everyone most of the time. At least it is in my head.

It is exciting to see all the good job stuff going on. Contined job ~ma to all who need it. And Susan, your perspective on this is perfect. Sounds like it was good practice! Was this the possible New York interview, or the local company?
