Buffista Music III: The Search for Bach

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

For the first time ever...a Kinks box set.

I must say the collection of songs on disc 2 represents a pinnacle of pop music that only a handful of musicians or groups could match.

Art Crawl!!!

That Box set looks so good!

The "deluxe" Murmur comes out this tuesday. Also tempting. And much more in my price range.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Oh my. This is... something.

Bob Cronin, aka dj BC, is best known as the creator of such memorable mash-ups as The Beastles (Beatles vs. Beastie Boys) and Wu Orleans (Wu-Tang Clan vs. New Orleans Jazz). Boston Phoenix magazine declared him Boston's Best Lawbreaker, and his progressive attitude towards copyrights might also be responsible for the fact that his mixes usually disappear from his website after a relatively short time. One of my all-time dj BC favorites is his album Glassbreaks, mashing up Philip Glass with hip-hop. Here it is, for free download, and hopefully for a longer time.

"Funeral of Amenhotep" is one of my favorite Glass tunes....

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

I don't know from Sufjan Stevens, but I'm totally in love with Did I Make You Cry On Christmas Day? (Well You Deserved It!). DW has been downloading new-to-us xmas music like crazy and so far that's my fave new one. What other Sufjan should I be listening to???

I'd start with Illinois. I think that's his best. "Casimir Pulaski Day"!

I love Illinois.

And the outtake album: The Avalanche which is perfect for those of us who cannot get enough of Illinois.

Unleashed!

Posting good music (& books) is what I do...

I think Michigan is easily Sufjan Stevens' most realized album (and my favorite).
