Buffista Music III: The Search for Bach

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Except maybe Danny Elfman

And yet - then I watch Midnight Run again, and boggle that THAT'S a Danny Elfman score.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Hey, I'm a Danny fan. It's not like everything he does is recycled. But he does hit his favorite bag of tricks a little too often. Though there is something to be said for "How Would Nino Rota Score a Superhero Movie?"

Oh, I don't disagree that there is a "DANNY ELFMAN SCORE". I just am pleasantly pleased when he doesn't necessarily go there, and MR is one of the big standout atypical ones for him.

Though there is something to be said for "How Would Nino Rota Score a Superhero Movie?"

With the occasional consultation with Kurt Weill.

He has built a successful career on the profitable assumption that very few Americans have seen Fellini or Threepenny Opera.

“Not dead yet!”

And now I'm going to have to listen to Serenada Schizophrena. Not sure this is a good idea before bedtime. We'll see.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Breeders tonight!

Ooooh, they're fun. And for some reason, the only show that escapes my mind when I'm thinking about "which international shows I've seen so far? Humm, let me count...".

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Cindy und Bert play Black Sabbath.

Naturally the lyrics have been changed to "Der Hund Von Baskerville."

Instantly shoots to my top ten rock videos ever.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Nobody plagiarizes himself quite like John Williams.

Except maybe Danny Elfman.

I'd say both are put to shame by Andrew Lloyd Webber. That man has been writing the same musical for thirty years.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Cindy und Bert play Black Sabbath.

'Cause when the backing tracks are playing a guitar or keyboard solo, what I want to look at is a cute li'l doggie!

See it's conceptual. That's the Hund Der Baskerville.
