Donald Fagen Defends Steely Dan To Friends
Ah hahahahahahahahaha!!!
Thanks anyways, Sue!
This is a few days late, but I haven't had internet access this week: RIP Miriam Makeba. I didn't know much about her personal life (five husbands, and a proposal from the president of Guinea!), but she devoted her life to spreading awareness about apartheid in South Africa, and was exiled from the country for 30 years, until 1990. I saw her perform at a small club in Cape Town about six years ago, and she was amazing; her voice wasn't quite what it had been, but she radiated energy, and her love for South Africa was clear and infectious.

I heard a couple of items on the radio recently that should interest fans of '60s music.
Over the weekend, I heard an interview with Ron Dante. The Archies are about to release a Christmas album. More albums are planned. No word on whether original bandmembers other than Dante are involved, but Betty and Veronica are expected to do more lead vocals.
Also, in unrelated news, Mary ("Those Were the Days") Hopkin is about to release a new album.

Might mean that he's working with Toni Wine. Kim got them both to come to one of her Bubblegum Balls and they sang together on stage.
If that's the case, it'd be an excellent combo. She's the one singing the "I'm gonna make your life so sweet" bit on "Sugar, Sugar."
"Sugar, Sugar" was mentioned during the interview. Dante's very proud that it's one of the most requested songs on oldies stations. There was also a brief discussion of Dante's other big project, the Cufflinks -- including a snippet of "Tracy." Which, for my money, is one of the great pop songs of all time.
Me too, Fred.
We're seeing the Breeders tonight!!!! Woohoo!!!
