There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

David, I'm always interested in your Halloween mixes! And I've been feeling the need for more eerie dark folky music this past week or so.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

It's gotten interesting because there are several music blogs devoted solely to Hallwoeen music, year-round. So just about every vinyl oddity/rarity has been digitized. Unfortunately, that means I have to comb through vast swatches of post-Monster Mash knockoffs and parodies with things like "I Want To Bite Your Hand" done in a faux Bela voice.

And I've been feeling the need for more eerie dark folky music this past week or so.

Yeah, well I've definitely got a bunch of that on hand.

I'd say I would post that stuff tonight but I'm going drinking with Buffistas tonight at Tres Agaves!

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

We listened to Siouxsie as we decorated the house for Halloween last night. It was fun!

Mostly Ghostly is the biggest. Almost a clearing house for the other blogs.

MM! You might need David McCallum Reads the Dunwich Horror (1976)

Their links on the right are fairly comprehensive.

I have had some excellent scores at Music You (Possibly) Won't Hear Anywhere Else. It's currently looking at the long tradition of Halloween/Christmas music conflation (which apparently goes back well before Nightmare Before Xmas).

Special Alert to Frankenbuddah, Theo and Bev Crime Lounge has a ton of crime jazz available for DL.

Bonus for Jilli: Super 8 Film of Disney's Haunted Mansion.

vanguard of the socialist Hollywood liberal homosexualist agenda

So I thought there might be people in here who'd be at least mildly interested to know that Elvis Costello appears on a song on the new Fall Out Boy album that comes out in November.

Hey! Yo Gabba Gabba has an album coming out today.

Totally worth it just for Mark Kozelek's super dreamy "Bedtime Lullaby"

Yeah, that was a good one.

Just last week, I grabbed the audio from an episode that featured the Clientele and Mates of State and played their songs on my show!
