There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Scarlett-sings-Tom record

I actually like this - I feel dirty.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I thought it was an interesting experiment musically. It really focused on Tom's melodies and built a layered pop album around them. A couple songs worked, but not because of her vocals which were supremely characterless and did not really dig into the lyrics.

Holly Cole did an album of Tom Waits songs a few years back and though it was with a fairly standard jazz lineup, she really got the lyrics and did a great job with them.

I guess I should remind people that I put up a ton of Tom Waits covers at Buffistarawk in a variety of styles. So if you're curious about his music but can't get past his voice...check it out.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Hec? Help?

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

That's the one I would have picked.

If that is the one you need, Allyson, I can send it to you when I get home.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

I don't know if I've blathered about them here, but I've been going to see a local band called Empires since February. Today they released their album, and you can download it for free (with cover art and photographs!) from their website: [link]

Their sound is rock and roll with a dash of R&B. Anyway, I think their songs are pretty catchy. So.
