There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

Seriously? If our house financing had fallen apart? I was TOTALLY going to console myself by running away and spending a few thousand dollars for the chance to see Cohen live.

Well I don't think he's announced US dates, so your chance might be coming.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

This I understand a lot.

This is why I never bothered to get an iPod. The thought of having to sit there and rip my collection was too tedious to contemplate. This is the big downside to being on a computer all day - I'm burnt out on it by the time I get home.

ETA, the fact that my computer is in one room, all my music and stereo is in a second room, and my TV and videos/dvds are in a third also doesn't help. Much as I love, Love, LOVE having space, there were some benefits to being in a convenience apartment.

And see, I would totally hire myself out to rip in people's music all day. iPod setter-upper.

I think there are already people out there doing this, so it's not necessarily an impossible dream.

No lie, I kind of want to break into Frank's house and rip all his CDs.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

I'm definitely in. It took me a couple of months to rip my CD collection to iTunes, but every now and then I'd hit something I hadn't listened to in a while, which was awesome.

I just moved a bunch of vinyl from one shelf to another, which reminded me that I have a ton of stuff there that's unavailable on any of the mp3 stores. Might have to befriend someone with a USB turntable.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Back when I was ripping bunches of stuff for iTunes, I liked to have three computers ripping at the same time.

Also, I originally ripped my stuff at 128 kbps, so around the fall of '03 I re-ripped everything at a higher variable bitrate.
