Inara: So. Would you like to lecture me on the wickedness of my ways? Book: I brought you some supper, but if you'd prefer a lecture, I've a few very catchy ones prepped. Sin and hellfire... one has lepers.

Buffista Music III: The Search for Bach

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Hmmm... do ya' suppose they'll tour nationally, or will I have to schlep my ass out east? And, you know, kill everyone who gets in my way....

Holy fuck! I may have to take a trip up East to see that, too.

I never saw the Feelies back when they were a going concern. I'd been a fan since high school (1987, around the time of The Good Earth), but I can only remember one time they came down South. That was fall of 1991, and they played a music festival in Birmingham. I was not just broke as hell but I had to work that night, and I ended up missing it. Broke my heart.

Let's see - I saw them in '88-ish in Madison when they toured behind Only Life. Awesome show. I sorta' had the flu but I got so much into the music that I was dancing the whole time. Then I saw them in '91 in Mppls when Time for a Witness came out. Apparently Brenda Sauter's father had died that day, and it was not one their best shows. Still good, though.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

A reply to the Billy Bragg piece.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

the DH and I are in charge of picking music for the niece's memorial service and we want to make a mix CD of her favorite music to give folks.
