There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Hec has, alas, forgotten Matilda's very first favorite song, the Turtles' "Happy Together," which she heard on the soundtrack of some middle-of-the-lineup cable channel Saturday afternoon movie when she was five months old (I think it featured a robot John Malkovich, maybe?). She started, then she goggled at the TV set, and then she started grooving and bouncing and loving on it. For weeks we could sing it to her a capella and she'd bounce and sway and grin.

She also loved the Flight of the Conchords' LOTR song, but since she insisted on it being played something like 25 times in one night, we promptly deleted the episode as soon as she fell asleep and she's never heard it since.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

"Human Behavior" is a great little-kid song! I'm not a big fan of Bjork, but I love that track and can see why it would appeal to li'l bootyshakers.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Has she seen the video? It seems to me something a kid might like. (Then again, I haven't seen it in a while - I could be forgetting some bits that might be disturbing for a kidlet....)

I think there's a suggestion of violence, but it's as non-explicit as it could be.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

She did like the video for "Human Behavior" - which has many disturbing elements but not to a toddler.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

That was the one directed by Ren & Stimpy's John K., yes?

No that was "I Miss You" which was even more disturbing. Gondry did "Human behavior" with the bear suit and the bug eating.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I can see kids loving Bjork because even at her most normal looking she's still an elf.

Of course, I can also see that freaking some kids shit out, much like clowns or department store Santas can.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

The DJs in The Rub have been putting together mixes chronicling the history of hip-hop--with each mix being devoted to one year, beginning in 1979--and right now they have a hard drive-busting 21 volumes up. (A few of the earlier mixes are available via ZShare downloads, no doubt to alleviate bandwidth costs.) [The Rub, via Rapidshare]

I forsee many hours of DLs in my future....
