"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I can barely believe it. For one thing, why did it take me more than two years to write 30,000 words?

Sir, this question ran around my brain for at least a good five months after I turned in my manuscript.

As it turns out, having babies, making a living, doing fun stuff and family responsibilities gets in the way.

Also: Congratulations! Holy shit, you must feel so relieved right now. As for myself, I didn't start feeling happy about it until I had some distance from it and judge the book as a finished project instead of something that was still mutable in my head.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Awesome YouTube video of every song to be in the Billboard number 1 spot on February 29th: [link]

Also, congratulations, Corwood!

Thanks, y'all!

Yeah, David, I hear you. I may not be ready to feel that relief until I'm holding a copy in my hands. But considering how much better the first chapter reads now, I'm glad I took another swing at it.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Terry Pratchett's comment on how "Everyone wants to have written" seems apropo here. Which is why it always strikes me as very important to congratulate those who have ACTUALLY done it!

Thanks, y'all!

I've been amusing myself over the last couple of nights by putting Geneva to sleep by singing Magnetic Fields songs in the style of Tom Waits. It works pretty well! I think we need a side project called Stephin's Wild Years.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

The Scarlett Johannson Tom Waits covers album has taken on some interesting collaborators: [link]

Honestly, the TV ON THE RADIO part is as interesting to me as the Bowie one.

The new (and last they claim) Bauhaus album comes out tomorrow. I must admit - I'm kinda psyched (well not so much that this is probably the last, but you know what I mean).

I was listening to that yesterday. It sounds like Bauhaus.

t edit Which is to say, if you like Bauhaus, you'll like this one.
