Buffista Music III: The Search for Bach

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

"All I Want To Do Is Shag For Christmas"

Is there anyplce I can sample this on line? 'cause I was gonna say, "no. Fairytale of New York." But then I realized I've never heard the BellRays

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

They played it on WFMU this afternoon. If you go here, it's the 3rd or 4th song in. It starts at 9:40.

If you go on iTunes, the tracks are mixed up. If you click on "All I Want to Do", you'll hear, "Santa's Got a Big Old Bag", and if you click on "Santa's Got a Big Old Bag", you'll hear "All I Want To Do Is Shag For Christmas".

WFMU in Chicago? Didn't that used to be a classical music station? Oh no wait, that's WFMT.

Dog is my co-pilot.

"All I Want To Do Is Shag For Christmas" by The BellRays = Best. Christmas. Song. Ever.

No, that would be "Christmas, Baby Please Come Home" by Darlene Love. I missed her Christmas show this year. So sad. I heard she had Cissy Houston singing "Oh Holy Night" again. Oh my!

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

A whole shitload of Christmas music from WFMU: [link]

Too late for Jon, but they have a version of "The Little Drummer Boy" - by the Jingle Cats. I like how that song is classified (along with Klaus Nomi's "Silent Night") under "Experimental." It has sitar! And, um, dogs.

My sister and I played the Jingle Cats CD first when we got home with the tree every year. This year she moved out and I kind of miss the Jingle Cats.

Am now listening to the Jingle Cats doing "Oh Holy Night." I didn't notice it at first because WFMU has it listed under "Dance."

My mom got me a Jingle Cats cassette. I played it for my siblings once or twice. My mom also has the Jingle Cats VHS tape. Amazing special effects!

Also from WFMU (same link) , check out "Coldest Night of the Year" by Vashti Bunyan if you're into her at all. (And even if you're not - if you find her voice annoying, it's much less so on this song.)

eta: I don't know who she's singing with on this one....
