There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Ooh, ooh! Here's a link to the Amazon list for my juvenile friends! [link]

And here's our blurb:

BEYOND 4 WALLS BOOK DRIVE

Reading changes lives. We ask you to partner with us to impact and improve the lives of incarcerated children and teenagers, by purchasing books for the BEYOND 4 WALLS BOOK DRIVE.

The Barry J. Nidorf Juvenile Detention Facility in Sylmar houses 600+ children and teens. The members of the Nidorf Collective, a group of students from the UCLA Information Studies graduate program, have been volunteering at the facility for the past year, bringing books to this underserved population. The Beyond 4 Walls Book Drive, sponsored by the GSA Community Service Commission, will further the work to give the gift of reading to these kids.

How can you contribute? Use this link to select books for the kids from the "Beyond 4 Walls Wish List" on Amazon.com:

[link]

The books on this list have been requested by the teens at Nidorf and/or recommended by the library students in the UCLA MLIS program, who have seen what a difference books and reading make to this population. After you use the link, please forward this email to others who might also like to make a fundamental difference in this ongoing literacy program. (Please note and make use of all the tools Amazon gives you to view the books by highest priority, by price, in detail, or in summary.)

The GSA Community Service Commission, the members of the Nidorf Collective, and the kids at Nidorf thank you for giving your time and energy to community service. Your donation makes a big difference.

Uh, no pressure or anything...

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Uh, no pressure or anything...

Oh, I'd gladly pimp that. Very Powell's appropriate.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Hey Hec, I am sure Powell's readers are interested in SUV reviews, right? [link]

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Powell's readers want to know how awesome I am, and that I'm single.

You can run but you can't hide.

Just when I start to worry about your overburdened life you haul off and sass me.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Liese! Does your project take direct donations? Can I steer people towards you online?

Hee! Yes! Although your audience will have to be willing to tolerate the Christian framework that's given in the website. Although of course our target market is the church, we do have several non-Christian donors who believe in the value of music education and building relationships with these neato Navajo and Apache youth, and are nonetheless passionate about our work.

Hope in Transit.

Hey, I'm making my friend's mix for her wedding and I guess you can't buy George Harrison songs on iTunes? Is that because of the whole "We trademarked/copyrighted APPLE, bitches" thing?

anyway, I don't suppose anyone has "My Sweet Lord" and "What is Life" handy and wouldn't mind stickin' it up on buffistarawk for me? I'd be verrry greatful!

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

It shouldn't be, since they settled that litigation, but it doesn't seem they've totally agreed on putting the Beatles on iTunes, does it?
