Death is your art. You make it with your hands day after day. That final gasp, that look of peace. And part of you is desperate to know: What's it like? Where does it lead you? And now you see, that's the secret. Not the punch you didn't throw or the kicks you didn't land. She really wanted it. Every Slayer has a death wish. Even you.

Oh, The Decemberists will be at the Vic the weekend after Thanksgiving!

There are a ton of concerts coming up that I'd like to attend. I should post a list in case any Chicagoistas are game.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

You all suck, incidentally. The Decembrists are not coming to my town. We're just not as cool as Austin.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I think everybody already knew that about Houston, Dana.

But it's nice to have the Decemberists validate it.

I'll take back my link if you're mean to me.

How about if I'm just mean to Houston?

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I think there's meanness by implication. Or by the transitive property.

I was just coming here to mention that, too. RIP.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Here is a review of the show I was at last night. [link] I am in total agreement with the reviewer--except I thought Pete Yorn was dull as dishwater, redeemed on a bit by the energy of the band backing him.

The Crowdies were AMAZING, I gotta say. Finn's voice was strong and supple and killer.

He does have a great voice.

High-five me, Musicos, I've finished going over Oxford American's edits on my Dan Hicks article.
