There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

Bloom County suffers a little bit on re-read I've found because it was so very topical. There were a lot of jokes at the expense of the celebrity du jour or the politico of the day and they aren't as resonant.
I can see that. I seem to recall that was the reason Breathed has let those anthologies go out of print.
Sad I missed tina's fabulous hair.
Happy that I have Tegan & Sara's The Con.

It was very Gloomcookie-esque.
Btw, did you see that I thought that William Gibson's new protagonist in Spook Country reminded me of you?
I still have my copy of Billy and the Boingers Bootleg, and I believe it has both the record and the parody of the Joshua Tree album cover on the back.
In the realm of comics/music crossovers I've got the original ep by David J. for This Vicious Cabaret (V for Vendetta) and the soundtrack by Victor Banana for Clowes' Velvet Hand in an Iron Glove. The Value Ape jingle alone was worth the price.
"Value Ape, Gorilla savings..."

I did not! Linky?
ETA: It is sad I went immediately to comic books. This is a character in a novel, right? I'll have to read it.
EATA: Now I see why :)
former indie rocker–turned–journalist Hollis HenryShe even has a messed up name like my RL one!

I have that!

I regret never picking that up. But isn't it "Like a Velvet Glove Cast in Iron"? t /pedant
"Like a Velvet Glove Cast in Iron"?
I'm sure it must be because even as I was typing it out I thought, "Scola is going to correct me about this. Or Tommyrot. Or maybe that pedant, Jon."
I regret never picking that up.
It's not that great really, despite my fondness for Value Ape. Mostly cheesy synths - which are not inappropriate for that comic.
I could post it on Buffistarawk if people want but half of the fun is just owning the object itself.
I do have a number of fairly odd indie lo-fi soundtracks, many of which are good for One Cool Song. I love the theme for El Frenetico and Go Girl. The Teenage Tupelo soundtrack is really a fantastic slab of instro rock by Impala. (How cool are they? They wrote a song titled "Don't Ride With Arnold Friend.") And, of course, the Pervirella soundtrack LP is on gorgeous pink swirly vinyl.
