I must say I do like "An Interview with John Cage" by Ted Berrigan.
I was half-expecting this to just be an empty page....

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

And when is anything about John Cage going to meet your expectations, I ask.
Bartender: Shit. You're writing about Tom Waits. That's the best job ever.
Truth!
Truth!
Heh. It was a good perspective to have because it doesn't feel like the best job ever right at this particular instant.
But it was good to bounce stuff off a thoughtful Waits fan who hasn't devoured all the research I've done. Because even devout Waits fans haven't read all the shit I've read and spent a solid year on one record.
Pure pop bliss. Neil Finn, Graham Gouldman and Roddy Frame (Aztec Camera) doing Weather With You.
So! In Tracy Chapman's "Give me one reason" can someone with madder Google skilz than I tell me what the lyrics are for the background vocals?

Have people heard about SoundPedia? Much like Pandora, but accessible worldwide, and a few extra features to boot. Pretty awesome.
I think that here's where I note that T. Corey Brennan, who was a bassist for The Lemonheads, wrote his Harvard PhD thesis on Roman history while touring Europe.
I loved his lead guitar playing with Bullet LaVolta, who were an excellent poppy-punky-metal hybrid.
I'm in London for another week, but I just got back from my weekend of thereminizing with about 40 other theremin enthusiasts. The weirdest and coolest thing about the event is that Dave Vanian was a registrant. I talked to him for a bit; he's a really nice guy -- very approachable.
There was a concert on Sunday afternoon at which I and a bunch of the other attendees each gave short performances. I played my Ramones Medley, Video Killed the Radio Star, and Should I Stay or Should I Go. Afterwards, Dave Vanian's wife approached me to say she'd enjoyed my set. I realized from her voice that she was American and we chatted a bit. At some point she mentioned that she used to play in some bands. I asked if I would have heard of any of them. "The Gun Club?... Sisters of Mercy?", she replied. Yes, it was Patricia Morrison. I had no idea they were a couple!
Oh my god! I forgot to mention the other really weird-but-cool thing: Another registrant was Bruce Wooley who CO-WROTE VIDEO KILLED THE RADIO STAR!!! He was incredibly nice. He'd seen my youtube video and was very gracious about it.

You talked to Patricia Morrison! Eeeeeee!
