Buffista Music III: The Search for Bach

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Anyway, Hec & Corwood please send me your mailing addresses ASAP. I'm sending you some stuff whether you want it or not.

Well, okay!

btw, Joe, do you have the Lou Reed video Coney Island Baby? It's Lou live with Fernando and Quine doing things like Legendary Hearts and New Sensation and the usual Reedian songbook. If not, I saw it used on VHS at Amoeba the other day and could pick it up for you.

Silence means security silence means approval

OK, let's say I'm making a mix tape of nothing but non-rap covers of rap songs. Right now I have the Gourds' "Gin and Juice," Ben Folds' "Bitches Ain't Shit," Nina Gordon's girl-and-a-guitar version of "Straight Outta Compton."

Any other suggestions?

"Black Steel" - Tricky
"Bring the Noise" - The Unholy Trio (Misha hates this, but I like it 'cuz it sounds like Ernest Tubb)
Luka Bloom's cover of LL Cool J's "I Need Love"

The Unholy Trio, I think.

ETA: you edited.
Also katefate - sorry I missed you at Winfield. I tried but wasn't sure I had the right camp and then I came down with a cold on Sat and basically quit moving after that. Hope you are recovering from your post-Winfield blues OK.

Rasputina's live "Oops I did it again".

They haven't released it yet, as far as I know. I'm waiting for them to release their cover of "Baby Got Back".

(I would try to close the t obssesive Rasputina fangirl tag, but we all know that would be a fib.)

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Rasputina's live "Oops I did it again".

"Oops I did it again" is a rap song? If so, Richard Thompson does a great cover of it as well.

nope not a rap song, a Britney Spears song - and I didn't know Rasputina was gonna release it, just accidently caught them doing it when going to see a different show.
