Buffista Music III: The Search for Bach

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

in the miniseries they stop at Ragnar Anchorage to pick up munitions after the Cylon attack. It hasn't been mentioned since.

Maybe Tommy Lee is more of a visionary than he's generally given credit for.

Edit: when I say "Tommy Lee," I mean "Vince Neil," as people do.

So, back to the subject of Brazil....

I downloaded a really hot version by a group called Pink Martini. They also have a version by Django Reinhardt which I suspect is intrumental only, but I'm thinking I should download anyway cuz Django Reinhardt. Any other input? Bueller?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

but I'm thinking I should download anyway cuz Django Reinhardt. Any other input? Bueller?

Pink Martini is a contemporary group. If you like their "Brazil" you'd probably like their two albums.

Django is great, but yeah, it'll almost certainly be instrumental. You might want to find a version by Carmen Miranda or a forties pop singer. Carmen Miranda, maybe.

From the Brazil FAQ:

The soundtrack by Michael Kamen is available on compact disc, Milan 35636-2. The disc features music from the film as well as snippets of dialogue and the title track sung by Kate Bush. The recording is excellent, and the disc offers insightful liner notes written by Steven Smith, Terry Gilliam and Michael Kamen.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

Pink Martini is quickly becoming one of my favorite bands, Sean, so I would reccomend them beyond their rendition of "Brazil."

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I happen to have a random Pink Martini cut, from the Dead Like Me soundtrack, "Que Sera Sera", and as soon as Gmail allows, it should be up on Buffistarawk.

Hey guess what? Joan Jett is still fucking hot.

If you haven't seen it already, it's the video for her cover of Sweet's "AC/DC."

Meara should totally do this on drag king night.
